Wheely Bug Kids Ride On Ladybug

The Wheely Bug Ladybug is the character that started the range, and it comes in two sizes on this page: small for 12 months and up, large for 3 years and up. Your child sits on the padded seat, pushes off with their feet, and four 360° castors do the rest — forwards, backwards, sideways, or spinning on the spot. There are no pedals to work out and no batteries to charge, which is why most toddlers have the hang of it within a few minutes of their first go.

The red-and-black classic that started the range

Wheely Bug began in Australia in 1995, and the ladybird was one of the first three characters off the line. Bright red, black spots, and the wobbly feelers that every child seems to grab first. How to choose in one step

Your child should be able to straddle the body and still get both feet flat on the floor to push off. Under about 18 months, choose the small. If they're average height or taller and past 18 months, the large gives you more years of use. Age is a starting point — height and confidence are the real guide.

Four 360° castors, no pedals to master

The castors underneath spin a full circle, so the Ladybug follows wherever your child leans rather than only going where it's pointed. Push, shift their weight, and off they go. Wheely Bugs are easy to use for children who are still learning to walk, and stay interesting right through the post-toddler years. Every push builds leg strength, balance and the coordination that later turns into pedalling.

Plywood and padding, not thin plastic

The padded body is covered in tough PVC-free polyurethane leatheroid that wipes clean with a damp cloth. Underneath is a base of plantation-grown Poplar plywood with rounded edges. It's at its best on timber, laminate and tile — it will roll on carpet, but the castors won't glide the way they do on a hard floor.
